LJ-Sec is a bulk journal entry management tool. It allows you to bulk change post security, delete posts, find and replace items, repost journal entries to other LJ-compatible servers, and other assorted odds and ends.

This update changes the location of saved journal data and configuration information (making it way more friendlier for Windows Vista and Windows 7). It also gives you the option to save any entries you get from a partial sync.

Find the download for LJ-Sec at http://www.mp3vcr.com/ljsec/.

I've been trying to use LJ-Sec for the past week or so in an attempt to duplicate my years of journals elsewhere, and although I've used it in the past with great success, it is now, inexpplicably, not working. It can access the entries, but not repost them elsewhere. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Not sure, I can run a few tests and see if reposting broke. What sites are you trying to repost to?

Date parsing exception

Somehow I have a journal entry with a date that is all 0s. Not sure how that happened, but it crashes LJ Sec.

On line 539 of Livejournal.cs
journalevent.Readvalue("events_" + z.ToString() + "_eventtime")
returns "0000-00-00 00:00:00" which causes
Convert.ToDateTime
to throw a FormatException. Perhaps it should check for this condition before calling ToDateTime? Or do something like
try {
  ljpost.eventtime = Convert.ToDateTime(journalevent.Readvalue("events_" + z.ToString() + "_eventtime");
} catch {
  ljpost.eventtime = System.DateTime.MinValue;
}

I think that would handle the empty string case as well.

Good suggestion; I'll put that in the code when I get a chance (about a week or so from now).

Works like a charm now. Thanks! Great program.

One other thing. I noticed when installing the new version (.81) that it wouldn't upgrade the old version but required me to remove it from Add/Remove programs first.

Is there a way to mass edit entries by adding in content other than tags? LJ has a new feature called lj-like and I don't want to manually edit all of my past entries.

It's possible, if it's exposed in the API somewhere.

Unfortunately, I can't find any new information on this feature with a quick search... any links would be appreciated.

Cool, thanks.

Basically, if I create a feature to append text to either the beginning or end of selected journal entries, I think that would work... you could add the lj-like tag (or anything else) to whatever entries you wish. I'll work on implementing this feature in the next couple of days.

Hey, I'm having issues getting this journal specifically to sync. I want to make it entirely friends only, but I wanna know why it's not working ;(
